Article 22 in my series about Triumph car dealers features Arthur Prince's Garage Limited of Loughborough.

Arthur Prince's of Loughborough 1970 advert

Founded in 1924 the company is still trading in Loughborough and as at the time of writing August 2016 sells new Volkswagon cars and is also an approved Madza parts and service outlet. Said to still be a family business the current MD is Geoff Prince.

For a period the garage sold Fiat cars as well as Standard Triumph cars.

Fit for a queen

It was reported in the Standard Triumph Review in December 1965 that Loughborough's Carnival Queen, 18-year-old art student Jill Eisner, rode in state through the town at the head of the Rag procession, the culmination of the Rag Week organised by the students from the town's four colleges. Her carriage was a white Triumph TR4A mounted on a float and pulled by a white Triumph 2000, entered in the procession by Loughborough's StandardTriumph dealers, Arthur Prince Ltd.

Led by Triumph

It was reported in the Standard Triumph Review in June 1967 that for the second successive year a Triumph car was in the lead when the Loughborough Colleges Carnival Procession was held at Loughborough. The car, a TR4A was provided by Arthur Prince's Garages Ltd, Loughborough, and the theme of the float was 'Ride in Triumph'.

Triumph car dealers in Loughborough

1955:
Arthur Prince's Garages Ltd, on Swan Street are listed as an area dealer.

1959 and 1965:
Arthur Prince's Garages Ltd, on Swan Street are listed as an area dealer, with.
Carillon Motors Limited, 16 Pinfold Gate as a dealer.

1969:
Arthur Prince's Garages Ltd, on Swan Street, and.
Carillon Motors Limited, are now on Woodgate

1972 and 1974
Arthur Princes Garages Limited, Swan Street.

By March 1988 Mann Egerton & Co Ltd on Woodgate held the Austin Rover franchise.
