Scottish Motor Show
The 42nd Scottish Motor Show was held just following the London Show. Unlike the London Show it was held only every other year, and the 1959 Show was the fifth since the war. As usual it was staged in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, and was opened by the Earl of Selkirk, First Lord of the Admiralty.Again, unlike the London Show, cars are not displayed by the manufacturers but by the Distributors and Dealers who are members of the Scottish Motor Trades Association. Examples of cars are, therefore, seen on many stands, Standard-Triumph cars being found on no fewer than eleven.

I have just come across your blog while looking for inforation about Macharg Rennie & Lindsay as I have a picture - sadly a print not an original - that was presented by them to a person unknown in Summer 1994. The print is of a charming painting called Bathers Near St Tropez by Maclauchlan Milne R.S.A. I am curiuous about the both the artist - who is turns out is a well know artisit of the Scottish School - and the presenters. Until I saw your blog, I had assumed the presenters were a married couple! How wrong am I? Anyway, if you have any idea of who might have presented the picture, I would be interested to know.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it may have been a retirement present. I have no real idea of who at Macharg Rennie & Lindsay would have made the presentation.
