Moto Baldet Ltd are the feature business in this short post about a Standard Triumph car dealer in Northampton. This is a follow up to my earlier post: Douglas Garage of Northampton - Triumph Car Dealers 58
Probably better known as a microcar and scooter dealer. Run by Andre Baldet from a garage at Westonia Garage, Weston Flavell, Northmpton. Moto Baldet also sold cars and for a time were a Standard Triumph dealer. Whilst they held the Lotus franchise they produced a special edition Elan, the Silver Streak.
Easter bonnet
It was reported in the Standard Triumph Review of May 1963: Over 60 bonnet wearers entered for the Annual Easter Bonnet Parade held on Easter Monday at The Racecourse, Northampton. The parade is sponsored by the Moto Baldet Group of Garages (Standard Triumph dealers) who provide the trophies and organization staff; additional prizes were presented by the Westone Hotel, John London Salon and Eric Ager Studio.
Winner of the cup for The Best Easter Bonnet was Miss Gillian Briggs who had celebrated her 16th birthday the day before the parade.

My first recollection of Andre Baldet was when he had a small garage, shop in Kingsthorpe Hollow, Northampton selling Motor Scooters one of which I have, an Iso Milano purchased in 1959.
ReplyDeleteHi we have found a 1963 and 1964 Moto Baldet calendar which are both in mint condition. Does anyone have any use for them?
ReplyDeleteI would love to see them particularly if they feature Triumph cars
