Puttocks Ltd of Guildford is the feature business of this article number 88 in my series about Triumph car dealers.

Puttocks Ltd had their garage premises on the High Street in Guildford for many years, before opening a garage on Guildford By-pass.

The garage was selling Dodge cars during the 1920's. After selling Standard Triumph cars it sold Mercedes Benz cars for a time.

Puttocks Ltd Automobile Agents and Engineers. At the time Mr Calne was using this card the firm were dealing with Standard Triumph and Daimler cars.

New building 1968

It was reported in the Standard Triumph Review dated December 1968:

Puttocks Ltd opened a new depot for service, parts, and administration at Guildford recently. The new premises have the latest equipment including a Sun Road-a-Matic Dynanometer, a Crypton engine analyser and "Optiflex" suspension wheel alignment checking apparatus.

Death of H H Puttock

Mr H H Puttock  died on February 15th 1961. He was, until his retirement in 1959, the Sales Director of the faniily business, Puttocks Limited, Guildford, Standard-Triumph Distributors.

His funeral at Brookwood Cemetery, Woking, was attended by Standard-Triumph representatives.

Mr. Puttock was born at Guildford in 1894 and served throughout the first World War with the Royal Fusiliers, the East Surrey Regiment and the Tank Corps.

Show and Service Week promotion

Staff from Standard Triumph HQ visited the business and assisted the firm with week long Show and Service promotions. These were held by the firm at their High Street premises: 24 to 31 August 1964 and 12 to 16 July 1965.
