This is my second article about Broadfields Garage & Engineering Co Ltd, Standard House, Cockfosters in North London.  This time I am covering the subject of Standard Triumph Sales and Service Weeks in more detail.  You can read part 1 here:

For many years Standard Triumph Distributors and Dealers throughout the country held Annual Standard and Triumph Service Weeks. These are usually staged in cooperation with the Standard Service and Spares Division who sent special displays. Standard Service Engineers attended ready to give owners the advantage of their special knowledge.

Standard and Triumph owners in the area were invited to bring their cars in for inspection during the period so that they could be reported upon by the Standard experts free of charge. The increasing popularity of these Service Weeks is reflected in the following records over a period of seven years kept by Broadfields Garage & Engineering Co. Ltd.

  1. My Father, Wilf Lewis, worked as Stores (or Spares/Parts) Manager at Broadfields for over 25 years retiring in 1975. Presumably his predecessor was Mr H E Pugh shown in the photograph above. Colleagues in the office were Roy Head, Assistant Manager, Peter and Sue.
Mr Hawkins owned Broadfields at the time and Ron Julian was Car Sales Manager. I worked there during school holidays as did my brothers.
