Triumph car dealers in Lincoln

Both Wests of Lincoln Ltd and J R J Mansbrdge have held the franchise for Standard Triumph.  In 1955
Wests (Lincoln) Ltd 116 High were the distibutor and
J R J Mansbridge Ltd at the White Hart Garage was a dealer
Parker Taylor and Co Ltd of Wragby Road was a dealer

In 1959, 1965 and 1969 Wests and Parker Taylor remain. In 1974 J R J Mansbridge Ltd now on Rumbold Street become the sole representative in Lincoln and are listed as the distributor

Wests (Lincoln) Limited

Wests had sold Standard cars from as early as 1923.  The company was a distributor for Massey Ferguson tractors and had several branches in Lincoln, Horncastle and Louth.

Wests (Lincoln) Limited High Street branch also sold Reliant cars as this advert from 1978 shows.

This compliments slip is attached to a warranty document included with a Triumph 2000mk2 originally supplied by Mansbridge 9/3/70 and now owned by Andrew Newman.

I understand that the business closed down in the early 1990's.  The Rumbold Street garage ended by selling Citroen cars. I think that building is now used by the Lincolnshire archives.  They then moved out to a 3 garage site on Wragby Road but only Citroens were sold under the Mansbridge name. The Wragby site was selling furniture in 2009 having stopped selling cars during the late 1990's.

  1. Rainforth's Implement Works Monks Road is now part of Lincoln College. The standing building is dated 1887, architect Pearson Bellamy. Rainforth's went into voluntary liquidation in 1933, the business being taken over by A G Parrot, followed by S W Thorne and J Carrot who made bus and coach bodies for Lincolnshire Roadcar until 1935. By 1937 and at least until 1949 it was a motor garage run by A R Hill Ltd and later by J R J Mansbridge. By 1968 adverts put Mansbridge’s in Rumbold Street.
